Marian Cult Objects with Legendary Origins of Divine Inspiration

The Narrative of Divine Inspiration represents an even greater stake in Catholicism for Natives. In this type of narrative a Native person is not simply presented with a sacred image, but is inspired or commanded by the Virgin to create it. This type of story shows that not only can Natives find holy objects, but craft them. Some of these storys attirbute the sacred objects creation to an anonomous Native, such as in the case of Our Lady of the Miracles of Caacupe. In the case the Virgen De Copacabana, the Craftsman, Francisco Tito Yupanqui, is well known in his home country of Bolivia and is being considered for sainthood. The objects created by these craftsman have become not only revered for their divinity, but have become objects of National or Local pride. This origin gives even more agency to the Natives, as one of their own crafted the holy object, rather than having it given to them.
