Conclusions

The adoption of Marian cult objects and the adaptation of Catholic narratives of origin offer us a chance to look at one way Natives adapted and altered Catholicism.  These narratives appearing independently, yet having similar narratives, show us Natives making themselves into equal partners in Catholicism with Europeans. This allowed for an easier transition to the new religion for native South Americans. The objects created in colonial era South America are important in the modern world, and are now revered by Catholics across the globe.
